Sunday October 23rd saw huge local rainstorms and over 6000 lightning strikes across South-East England. Sunset was around 17.51pm but at that time an exciting light phenomenon was apparent in the College. Three photographs taken almost simultaneously reveal what was happening – though not why!
In the Wren Quad the Chapel Facade is lit up in an amazing light that out-rivals the best of high summer, whilst the view of the Clock Tower shows only a gentle sunset, with the third photograph revealing the anger of the sunset through the Wren gateway. The light was equally powerful facing east and west but only at low level. Any theories?
